Emil Eugen Holzhauer
(1887-1986)
Emil Eugen Holzhauer was born in Schwabisch-Gmund, Germany in 1887. He was an art educator, painter and sculptor who was well-known for his landscapes. He studied under Robert Henri, and at the Art Students League in New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago, where he also taught. He was a member of Audubon Artists, Salons of America, the Society of Independent Artists, and Southern States Art League. His works have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Audubon Artists, Boston Art Club, the Brooklyn Museum, Carnegie Institute, Century of Progress Chicago in 1933, the Corcoran Gallery Biennial, the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy, Salons of America, Society of Independent Artists, Southern States Art League, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He was awarded The Logan Medal in 1930. He died in 1986.
