Paul Cadmus
(1904-1999)
Paul Cadmus was born in New York, New York in 1904. He was an artist well-known for his egg tempera paintings, murals, etchings, and pastels. His works often depicted male nudes, and urban scenes. He studied at the Art Students League of New York, and the National Academy of Design. He was also involved in Federal Arts Project Works Program Administration. He studied under Joseph Pennell and Kenneth Hayes Miller. His works have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, The Brooklyn Museum, the Carnegie Institute, the Corcoran Gallery Biennial, the Museum of Modern Art New York, the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He lived and worked many years in Connecticut. Paul Cadmus died in 1999.
