Dennis Nechvatal
(b. 1948)
Dennis Nechvatal was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin in 1948. He studied briefly at Loras College and received his BS and BA from the University of Wisconsin. He received an MFA from Indiana University. Nechvatal is known for his modernist figure-imagery paintings and has exhibited at several major institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C., the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Indianapolis Center for Contemporary Art. He is considered to be one of Wisconsin’s most prominent living artists.
