Bernard Ungerleider

(d. 2003)

Prior to his death in 2003, Bernard Ungerleider was a constant and active member of the Delaware Valley art scene. He had a studio in Lambertville, NJ, where he held weekly figure-study sessions. Local artists came to sketch, paint, talk, and actively participate in their artistic community. Ungerleider was a founding member of the Artists’ Gallery cooperative and a pillar of the legendary Bucks County/Lambertville artistic community. Originally an engineer and business owner, Ungerleider began attending classes at the Art Students League in New York, and left his career to pursue his interest in art. His work is represented in collections throughout the United States and Europe. He has exhibited in galleries in the Delaware Valley, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New England, New York, and Italy. A retrospective of Ungerleider’s work was exhibited in Bucks County, PA in 2003. Select paintings spanning Ungerleider’s career were shown interspersed with pieces created by artists who have painted alongside him in his studio sessions.
