Sol Wilson  

(1896-1974)

Sol Wilson was born in Vilno, Russia in 1896. He was a muralist, painter, and printmaker well-known for his modernist works. He studied at the Cooper Union, the National Academy of Design, and also under George Bellows and Robert Henri. He also at the Art Students League of New York, was a member of Audubon Artists, the Boston Art Club, the Provincetown Art Association, Salons of America, the Society of Independent Artists, and was involved in The Federal Arts Projects. His works have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Carnegie Institute, Corcoran Gallery Biennial, the Metropolitan Museum, the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy, the Provincetown Art Association, Salons of America, the Society of Independent Artists, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He died in New York City in 1974.
