Henri Oren  

(1895-1953)

Henri Oren was born in Proskurov, Ukraine in 1895, but was raised in Meriden, Connecticut from age eight. He was a painter well-known for his landscapes and portraits. He studied at the Julian Academy, and the Yale School of Fine Art. He was a member of the Brooklyn Society of Artists, and the Society of Independent Artists. His works were exhibited at the Brooklyn Society of Artists, the Society of Independent Artists, and the Woodstock Art Association. He lived in Connecticut and traveled often to the Catskill Mountains in New York and the Berkshires in Massachusetts. He died in Brooklyn, New York in 1953.
