Thomas Brownell Eldred

(1903-1993)

Thomas Eldred was born in Climax, Michigan in 1903. He was a painter and printmaker who was mostly known for his abstract works. He was taught by Guy Pene Du Bois, John Vanderpoel, Stanley William Hayter, and Thomas Hart Benton. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League in New York, and Atelier 17. He was a member of the American Abstract Artists, and Federal Arts Project Associations. His works have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, and Brooklyn Museum. He died in Grove City, Pennsylvania in 1993.
