Cecil Bell (1906-1970)

Cecil Bell was born in Seattle, Washington in 1906. He was a painter, printmaker and illustrator well-known for his works of urban scenes. He was taught by John Sloan, and studied at Art Institute of Chicago, and the Art Students League of New York. He was a member of the Society of Independent Artists. His works have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery Biennial, New York Metropolitan Museum, the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy, Society of Independent Artists, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He died in Staten Island, New York in 1970.
