Butch Anthony (b. 1963)

Butch Anthony began to paint in 1994. He uses found objects and materials to tell stories about people who live in his community and depict humorous musings of modern habits. Butch also creates sculptures using wood, tin, and wire. Butch has been known for driving around his neighborhood in his “art car,” a black hearse adorned with a variety of found objects. You can find a yardful of Butch’s creations just south of Greensboro on highway 61 in Alabama.
